Cyprus, dream of the summer holidays, feared for its complicated political situation, very often misunderstood.
Too little is known about the life on this island and misconceptions are more common than not.
Is it part of Greece?
Does half of it belong to Turkey?
Is it only a holiday destination or people live there all year long?
These are only few of the questions that I constantly hear.
My name is Carla. I am originally from another Mediterranean island, Sardinia, and I have decided to be a migrant for most of my adult life.
Following a volunteering experience in Cyprus in 2016 I was captured by the charm of this land and decided to permanently move here in 2019.
Today, I live in the walled city of Nicosia, capital of Cyprus.
I will share my experience as an inhabitant of the last divided capital in the world, as a foreigner in Cyprus, as a Mediterranean woman.
I will give you tips and recommendations on how to make the most of your time on the island, whether it is a holiday or the beginning of a new life.
